5 Minute Mug Brownie

Hello muffins! Today I am talking about brownies! This 5 minute mug brownie recipe is one that I have used for years! I am impatient and love sweets so this is right up my alley. Here's what you will need:

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons water
A handful of chocolate chips (optional)
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract (optional)
A mug
A microwave

(Don't worry about being messy! It's all good in the end!)

Vegetable oil

Chocolate chips

Mix it all up!

Microwave for 30-45 seconds and ENJOY!

This is just so simple and yummy!
Just mix all the ingredients together and microwave for about 45 seconds. Make sure to check on it at about 30 seconds because it can burn.

Rimmel 60 Seconds: 220 "Sage All The Rage" Nail Polish

Happy MAY muffins! I love the month of May mainly because my birthday is in the middle of it, but also because May is when the grass and trees start to get greener, and the flowers reappear, and the temperature is not too cold or too hot! I'm excited for this month! I will be finishing my final course for University and hopefully working a lot more, so the month looks promising!

Anyway, on to what matters.. I originally bought this Rimmel 60 Seconds nail polish in the winter time because I thought it was on trend with the whole army green thing, but now I look at it and think it would also be appropriate for the spring time.

Rimmel 60 Seconds in 220 "Sage All The Rage"

I know Spring is usually dominated by neon and bright colours, but since I am a person who tends to stay fairly neutral with the nails, I like this colour because it is like a light army green. A sage colour, as the name suggests. It coincides with all the greenery of this month too, I think. AND this whole "60 Seconds" drying time is amazing! I don't have the patience for painting my nails so holy crap, this product is perfect for me! It actually does dry very quickly which I was surprised by and goes on smooth even with a double coat.

I will definitely pick up some other shades in the 60 Seconds line because the timing certainly suits my lifestyle!

What do you think of quick drying nail polishes?
What are your favourite colours for Spring?

Spring Ikea Haul!

Hello muffins! I have recently been updating my bedroom and redecorating with some new items from my favourite home store: Ikea! Their new collection, Ikea PS 2014 has been a hit with me and I have just fallen in love with some of the new designs! Since I live in a basement that has black wood panelling and a fake brick wall, it can be quite dark and dreary. So I decided to add some colour to the room, primarily yellow as I have discovered a new love for the colour! Here is what I "hauled" from Ikea :)

 Malin Trad: Lamp shade ($9.00)
I put this on a dinosaur shaped lamp I got from a Goodwill store.
I love the different colours which add some spice to the dark room!

Harte: LED light in pink ($14.99)
It is super bendy and can twist in different directions!

Ikea PS 2014: Fabric ($6.99/meter)
I made the fabric into a simple curtain for my one window.

And, to repeat the PS 2014 theme, I stapled the same fabric over a white door that leads to the furnace room. Just to add some more vibrance to the black walls.

Tjena: small paper storage boxes (only $1.99 each!)
These are great little boxes for storing junk and stuff, and even come with little label tags!

Byholma: Storage baskets in dark and light brown ($5.99 each)
I love the look of these baskets, and are great for storing anything from socks to belts! Just a really pretty solution for storing stuff!

Ikea PS 2014: Area rug ($129.99)
This was the most expensive purchase but I just had to grit my teeth and bare it because it matched too perfectly with the other PS 2014 things and breaks up my all grey carpet.

Lillaryd: Photo frame ($5.99)
This yellow picture frame is so neat! The below photo may not show how the white border actually slants inward toward the picture, but it does! It creates a cool inset, focused feeling.

Beloved Homes Book: Decoration and styling book (only $4.99!)
I love looking at blogs and websites about how to style a room or house, and this book is just so perfect! I am obsessed with getting new ideas and seeing how other people live and decorate! For only $5, I couldn't resist this great coffee table book.
(some pictures inside the book below...)

My room is slowly coming together to become how I envision it!
Hope you enjoyed this Ikea haul!

Have any suggestions, or decorating tips!?

Spring Bling DIY: How to Stop a Ring from Turning Your Finger Green

So my friend gave this adorable cat ring to me last week and I love it! The only problem is that it is one of those rings that turns your finger green after like, an hour. I was disappointed because the green marks are a pet peeve of mine, but I like the ring so much that not wearing it isn't an option.

I have had this dilemma before, and researched ways to fix it: the most common one being to coat the inside with clear nail posh. I have tried that, and though it worked for a day, the nail polish eventually flaked off. I decided to try a more long lasting way, with the use of tape!

Now this technique can be a little awkward to do, but I found that a few simple household beauty tools that can make it a lot easier:
- Clear scotch tape
- Tweezers
- Tiny scissors

1. First, you're going to measure the length and width of tape for the inside of the band. I did this by placing it on the outside and cutting the tap in half until I got the right width (it doesn't have to be exact: more is better than less because the tiny scissors will do the rest).

2. Then, when the tape is approximately the right size, grab the ends with tweezers and wrap them in a roll like so, and placed the sticky side so it is against the inside of the ring. With your fingers, you can smooth out the tape until it is applied nice and tight.

3. Taking the tiny scissors, I just cut along the edge of the ring to get ride of excess tape so that it was relatively in line. Just be patient and use little cuts to get it all - you can also use the tweezers here to grab or pick off small pieces.

4. Et Viola! With the inside lined with tape, the green marks should stay away! I've been wearing this ring for a few days without any green-ness sneaking onto my finger :)

(Now my cat buddy has a buddy too!)

I hope this might help!

Have you ever had this problem?

Thanks for hanging out!

(FYI: I am not sure where the ring is from since it was a gift, but I did find it on various websites by Googling "cat face ring" haha)

March Favourites

I hope you all had a wonderful March! I know I am excited for Spring, as the winter here in Canada seems to be never-ending! It was a pretty low key month makeup wise as I have been busy with school and in truth, quite lazy with putting a lot effort in, haha. I found a new skin care addition and rediscovered a face wash. Was impressed with a base and loved some new shampoo and conditioner. Finally, I tried a new mascara and wasn't disappointed!
So, here are my March Favourites!

Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil

I bought this at the end of February from Tarte's online website because they had an introductory 20%  off promotion, which was great! I had not heard of it before, but it got great reviews on the website so I decided to give it a try! I like face oils already, but have some that I find too heavy or they don't moisturize enough and just sort of sit on the surface of my skin. BUT, this baby is good. It sinks into the skin but doesn't leave an oily shine. It makes my skin feel immediately soft and hydrated. I am usually wary of buying makeup stuff online since I can't try it out in person, but am glad I went for it this time! I would highly recommend this product if you're in the market for a face oil
(Plus the packaging is just ridiculously cool!)

Laura Mercier Flawless Skin Face Polish

I had forgotten about this face scrub for a while but am glad I rediscovered it this month! With the dry skin of winter I have been trying to keep my skin, especially my face, hydrated and exfoliated. I love how tiny, but grainy the particles are in this polish and I find that my skin feels really clean after using it. The smell is good too - I want to say apricots, but whatever it is, it's nice. What I really like about it, is that it feels like it's creamy as well as rough (make sense?). As if it has moisturizing aspects to it on top of being a scrub. Overall, really great! Will definitely repurchase.

Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator in "100 Bare Light"

I picked this up in a drugstore haul earlier this month and have been seriously impressed. We went to a few events in March and I used this just to add some brightness to my face. It really does add a glow! BUT, not an obnoxious "look at my sparkling skin" kind of thing. I find it very subtle and pretty, and it actually makes a difference in photos! I have used it on everyday makeup days as well as going out nights and am happy with the lasting power and illuminating aspect of it! I think this is a great, affordable base/illuminator!

Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner

Let me start out by saying I love the smell of these guys. I can't explain it. It is a unique scent that lingers throughout the day and I just love it. I got these sample sizes in a trial kit from a hair saloon a while ago and have been using them almost all month! I absolutely LOVE the hair oil they make, so I was hoping these would be good too - and they are. The shampoo is very cleansing and the conditioner is quite creamy. I like a good, thick conditioner that penetrates hair and leaves it moisturized because my hair is so dry/damaged. I have since gotten full size versions of these and would recommend them to anyone.

Make Up Forever Smoky Lash "Extra Black" Mascara

I have had this product for a while and only started using it when I ran out of my regular mascara and was too tired to go out and buy another one. I am glad I was lazy because this is a gem! I especially like it because it is like an old-fashioned, no frills, black mascara. It doesn't have a specially designed wand or makes your lashes grow, it just does its job and does it well. I find it more lengthening than volumizing but it is definitely buildable. I have used this almost everyday, and really quite like it. Overall, great and simple mascara

What have you been loving this last month?
